We humans drink through straws all the time (and let s hope they re reusable; save the turtles, people). Think of the pump as your car s straw. When you start your car, the fuel pump moves fuel from the fuel tank, where it s located, to the fuel system. The fuel then combusts, and it s this combustion that starts the car and keeps it running. And that s it. That s literally it. It pumps fuel, so that your engine can use it, so that your car can drive. It s that important, and also that simple. If only everything in life was like that, am I right? Now, fuel pumps usually have a pretty long lifespan, but occasionally the wear and tear can cause it to die. And then it will need to be replaced. Whining coming from the fuel tank can be an indication that the pump is starting to die. So, here s a pretty good lesson to remember: Nobody likes whining. You don t like it when your car does it. And your friends and family don t like it when you do it. Try to remember that. In general, weird sounds from your car are never a good sign, and you should always listen to them.
Diminished engine performance
There might be a loss of power if the vehicle’s fuel line pump is unable to provide sufficient amount of fuel to the engine. Also, if the fuel delivery issue is more erratic, you might experience surging or sputtering. A less noticeable issue can be a decrease in gas mileage. You also may notice your car surging or running rough. If this is the case, you might need to replace your vehicle’s fuel tank pump.
Difficulty starting

This 2018 Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is finished in Alpina Blue Metallic over black Nappa leather, and it is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes Alpina styling and performance upgrades as well as adaptive LED headlights, four-zone climate control, Harman Kardon surround sound, ambient interior lighting, a navigation system, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and soft-close doors. The car was first delivered to Advantage BMW in Houston, Texas, and relocated to Scottsdale following the seller s acquisition. This F12 B6 now has just over 7k miles and is offered in Arizona with a window sticker, manufacturer s literature, two keys, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oklahoma title in the seller s name.
The body is finished in Alpina Blue Metallic and features an Alpina-specific styling package that includes a rear spoiler, Alpina badging, and unique front and rear bumpers.
